On Wednesday, May 7, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by two-wicket margin to get a consolation win in match number 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Coming into the match on the back of four consecutive defeats, CSK held their nerves and struck their chords right to dent KKR’s playoff hopes in IPL 2025.
After Noor Ahmad starred with the ball, picking a four-wicket haul after KKR invited CSK to field first, Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube played gritty knocks, along with a cameo from MS Dhoni and Anshul Kamboj to help CSK finish on the other side of the line.
Brevis scores his maiden 50 in IPL
Brevis, who walked out to bat when the CSK scorecard read 56/4, stitched crucial stand with Shivam Dube and helped CSK get past 120-run mark. Notably, in the 11th over of the CSK batting inning, which was bowled by Vaibhav Arora, Brevis got 30 and completed his maiden half-century in the cash rich league off just 22 deliveries.
However, his innings was cut short in the 13th over by Varun Chakaravarthy, when Rinku Singh caught him at long-on. With this knock, Brevis has now amassed 126 runs from four innings in IPL 2025, striking at a rate of 163.63 and an average of 31.50.
