On Friday, April 25, the Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in match number 43 of the Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After winning the toss and inviting the hosts to put the score first on board, on the back of Harshal Patel’s four-wicket haul, the Pat Cummins-led side restricted CSK to 154/10 in 19.5 overs.

However, the Indian pacer proved to be the wrecker-in-chief, on the back of 34-ball 44 from Ishan Kishan and unbeaten 32 and 19* from Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy respectively, SRH chased the 155-run target in 18.4 overs with five wickets remaining. Although, it was Ishan Kishan, who top-scored with the bat, but Patel for his 4/28, was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Harshal Patel dismisses MS Dhoni for fourth time in IPL

The SRH pacer shone with the ball, picking four wickets and guiding SRH to a comfortable win. The right-arm pacer picked four wickets, of namely, Sam Curran, Dewald Brevis, MS Dhoni and Noor Ahmed. In a notable instance, it was the fourth time that Patel got the prized wicket of wicketkeeper-batter and CSK captain MS Dhoni.

He sits at only third place in dismissing Dhoni. Only Zaheer Khan (7) and Jasprit Bumrah (6) have dismissed the CSK talisman more often n the league. Moreover, the 4/28 was the second four-wicket haul for Harshal Patel in the ongoing edition of the tournament. With four more wickets, he climbed up to fourth place in the Purple Cap race.

With 13 wickets to his name in eight innings, he sits only behind Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood (16 each) and Noor Ahamd (14) in the most wickets tally in IPL 2025.
