In the afternoon match of the double-header Sunday on April 27 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their winning streak as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54-run margin at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After losing the toss, on the back of fifties from Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav, MI posted 215 on the board in their allotted 20 overs.

The powerful bowling attack of MI then stepped up to the ocassion as they defended the target with ease, courtesy a four-wicket haul from Jasprit Bumrah, along with key wickets from Trent Boult, Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch. The star Indian speedster, who have been pivotal in the MI lineup, picked up four wickets in his four-over spell at an economy of 5.50.

Bumrah becomes highest wicket-taker for MI in IPL history

Moreover, during his spell, Bumrah also became the highest wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians in IPL history. Playing in front of his home crowd at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah added a feature to his decorated cap, going ahead of Lasith Malinga (170).

Coming on as first change in just the third over, Bumrah dismissed South Africa batter Aiden Markram to claim his 171 st wicket for MI in 139 matches, surpassing Malinga. While the former Sri Lanka sits at second place, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh sits third on MI’s all-time list with 127 wickets in 136 matches, followed by Mitchell McClenaghan (71) and Kieron Pollard (69).
