In the UEFA Nations League semi-final, played at MHPArena on June 5, Spain clinched a 5-4 win over France. In the first half of the match, winger Nico Williams stepped up for Spain and launched an onslaught on France in the 22nd minute. Following Nico, midfielder Mikel Merino also scored three minutes later. With Spain having a command over the game for more than half of the game, the Spanish team got a chance through a penalty. Yamal got the opportunity to score and he grabbed it confidently. With his goal, Spain were 3-0 ahead in the match.

With France trailing miserably in the game, Kylian Mbappe showcased his brilliance and scored the first goal for his side in the 59th minute. However, Yamal again shattered France’s confidence as he attacked the two-time World Cup champions and scored his second goal of the match in the 67th minute. His goal displayed alacrity as he ran a lot to breach France’s defense.

Spain will lock horns against Portugal in the final on June 9

Spain’s next clash will be against Portugal at Allianz Arena on June 9 (IST). Portugal reached the final after getting the better of Germany on June 4. Spain have been unbeaten thus far in the competition after playing nine matches while Portugal have lost one game during their campaign so far.

Both Spain and Portugal last met each other in UEFA Nations League 2022, in which the former bagged a 1-0 win, riding on striker Alvaro Morato’s goal. Discussing the head-to-head record between both teams, Spain have an upper hand with 17 triumphs in 40 matches. On six occasions, Portugal also emerged victorious. Portugal’s last win against Spain came in November 2010 in an International Friendly contest held at Estadio da Luz. The Portuguese side claimed a dominant 4-0 win then.
