Fast bowler Mitchell Starc turned out to be a match winner in the last over and then in the super over as Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals in thrilling IPL 2025 clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium. As RR were looking in great position to chase a target of 189 runs, DC made a great comeback in the last few overs with Starc conceding only eight runs in the last over when RR needed nine off six balls. In the super over as well, Starc restricted RR to 11 runs as DC batters chased in the first four balls. 

Batting first, DC posted a total of 188 runs for the loss of five wickets. Abishek Porel was top scorer with 49 runs off 37 balls hitting five fours and a six. KL Rahul also scored 38(32) runs while skipper Axar Patel contributed with 34(14) runs. Apart from that, Tristan Stubbs gave finishing touches with 34(18) runs. For RR, Jofra Archer took two wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga scalped a wicket each.

DC register thrilling win in super over against RR

Chasing the winning target, RR were off to a flying start before skipper Sanju Samson got retired out after scoring 31(19) runs in the sixth over after suffering a side strain. After that, Yashasvi Jaiswal took charge of the innings and went on to completed his third fifty of the season. The left-hander got out after scoring 57 runs off 37 balls hitting three fours and four sixes. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Nitish Rana went on to complete his fifty in just 26 balls. He got out after scoring 51(28) runs hitting six fours and two sixes.

After that, DC made a great comeback with their bowling as RR couldn’t cross the finishing line and ended up putting the same score as DC after 20 overs, leading to the super over. In the super over, RR lost their two wickets for 11 runs on the first five balls. In reply, KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs finished things off DC as they chased the target in the first four balls.
