After a disappointing 295-run loss in the first Test in Perth, the hosts Australia made a strong comeback in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, defeating India by 10 wickets in a day-night pink ball Test in Adelaide. With this, Australia have also levelled the five-match series 1-1 with three matches to go. Australian skipper Pat Cummins led from the front in the second innings as the right-arm pacer registered a five-wicket haul, to take the match away from India. 

With a first innings lead of 157 runs, Australia went on to dominate India with their bowling as the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals. India were reduced to 105/5, before Nitish Kumar Reddy took charge of the innings. Playing just the fourth innings in the second Test match of his career, Reddy turned out to be the top-scorer for India for the third time in the BGT series as the right-hander got out after scoring 42 runs off 47 balls with six fours and a maximum. 

Pat Cummins registers figures of 5/57 in second innings at Adelaide

Talking about the bowling, Australian skipper Pat Cummins shone with the figures of 5/57 in the second innings as India were bowled out for 175 runs, giving Australia a target of just 19 runs to win. Along with Pat Cummins, Scott Boland also scalped three wickets, while Mitchell Starc put two in his bag. After that, Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney took just 3.2 overs to achieve the target as Australia levelled the series 1-1.

With this, Australia also registered their eighth straight win in the day-night Test matches in Adelaide. Overall, Australia have won 12 pink-ball Test matches so far while losing just one against West Indies in Brisbane in 2024. Travis Head was adjudged player of the match for his fiery 140-run knock in the first innings. The third Test will be played in Brisbane from December 14 to 18.
