In the second game of The Hundred 2025 between Manchester Originals and Southern Brave at Old Trafford, the former’s captain and opener Phil Salt looked confident with his bat. Winning the toss, Brave captain James Vince elected to field first. Manchester lost Matty Hurst on the 10th delivery of the match but Salt looked relentless against bowlers and played some fine strokes from his bat. With Jos Buttler, he stitched a 48-run stand off just 32 balls for the second wicket. Butter fell after 22 off 18 but the skipper held the one end and kept on accumulating runs.
With Heinrich Klassen, he built a 26-run partnership for the third wicket. Salt brought his fifty in 35 balls. It marked his seventh half-century in The Hundred. He concluded his knock after amassing 60 off 41. His innings included six boundaries (four fours and two maximums). In the end, the hosts erected a total of 131/4. Tymal Mills was the most effective bowler for Brave as he picked up the prized scalps of Buttler, Klaasen, and Salt in his spell.

In the second innings, Brave got a slow start from their openers Leu du Plooy and skipper James Vince but Jason Roy’s 30 off 22 kept the visitors alive in the chase. In the last 10 deliveries, Brave required 20 runs and Tymal Mills showcased his mettle by hitting a maximum against Scott Currie.
Craig Overyon, who came at number nine, stepped up in the crunch situation and hammered an unbeaten 18 off just eight. He struck two fours and a six during his innings. With three required off three, Lewis Gregory got rid of Mills, who got dismissed after hoarding eight off four. The next delivery Reece Topley held his nerves and collected a four and took his team with one ball remaining. Mills became the Player of The Match (POTM) for his magnificent performance (3/22 and eight off four).
