Sydney Thunder are back at the top of the points table after another convincing win over Perth Scorchers in match number 33 of the 2024-25 Big Bash League at Sydney Showground Stadium on Monday, January 13. After Sam Konstas shone with a half-century, Tom Andrews gave finishing touches with the bat, while Chris Green did the remaining job with ball as as the Thunders defeated the Scorchers by 61 runs to register their fifth win out of nine matches in the ongoing season.

Batting first, Sydney Thunder kept losing the wicket at regular interval with Sam Konstas taking the score further single handedly from the other end. The opening batter got out after top scoring with 53(42) runs hitting five fours and two sixes. After that, Chris Green also scored 20*(16) runs while Tom Andrew gave finishing touches with 37*(13) runs as the Thunder posted 153/8 after their 20 overs. For Perth Scorchers, Lance Morris took three scalps, while Jason Behrendorff, Ashton Agar, Cooper Connolly and Matthew Spoors scalped a wicket each. 

Tom Andrews wins Player of the Match as Sydney Thunder beat Perth Scorchers

After Sydney Thunder posted 153/8 in their 20 overs, their bowlers did the remaining job to secure a convincing win over Perth Scorchers. Chasing the winning target, Aaron was the top scorer for the Scorchers with 22(17) hitting a four and two sixes. Apart from that, none of the other batter could at the crease for so long as Perth Scorchers were bowled out for 97 runs in 17.2 overs. 

For Sydney Thunder, Chris Green registered figures of 3/13 in his four overs. Apart from that, two while Tanveer Sangha, Tom Andrews and Muhammaad Hasnain scalped a wicket each. Andrews was awarded player of the match for his quickfire 37* runs and a wicket.
