Earlier on Tuesday, July 29, Australia registered a clean sweep in the five-match T20I series, taking the final T20I by three wickets at the Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. Coming into the fifth and final T20I after four straight wins, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first, thus inviting the hosts to put the score first.

While the West Indies lost its openers earlier with Brandon King departing at 11 off nine balls, skipper Shai Hope departed after a six-ball nine. Keacy Carty also departed after adding only one run. Thereafter, all-rounder Shimron Hetmyer played a brilliant innings of 31-ball 52, at a strike rate of 167.74.

Shimron Hetmyer’s 52-run knock goes in vain as Australia register 5-0 win

Heymyer, during his stay in the middle, struck six boundaries, three fours and as many sixes to help West Indies put 170 in 19.4 overs. The Windies all-rounder reached his 50-run mark with back to back boundaries. Batting at 38* after 16 th over, Hetmyer went onto smash a four off the third ball of Ben Dwarshuis’ over, followed by a 81-metre six. He then went onto smash the ball across the off stump for a four to complete his fifty.

However, Hetmyer went onto get dismissed on the very next delivery with Sean Abbott taking a fine catch at long-off. During his stay, the Windies hard-hitter went onto complete his sixth half-century in the shortest format, which was also his first since august 2023.
