Vidarbha cricketer Danish Malewar went past 150 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 final against Kerala at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur, on Thursday, February 27. The right-handed batter reached the coveted milestone at the start of play on day two in Vidarbha colours shortly prior to losing his wicket Nedumankuzhy Basil on 153 runs in 285 balls with 15 fours and three sixes, but despite that, he put his team in a strong position, and they managed to score 379 runs in 123.1 overs.

For the unversed, after Kerala captain Sachin Baby put Vidarbha into batting first, they lost the early wickets of Parth Rekhade, Darshan Nalkande, and Dhruv Shorey in the first hour on day one. Following that, the entire days’ play belonged to Danish Malewar and Karun Nair as they shared a 215-run stand for the fourth wicket before the former Indian international was run out on 86 runs in 188 balls with eight fours and one six, to put Vidarbha in a commanding position.

After notching up his second hundred in Ranji Trophy, Danish Malewar kept his innings going into day two of the final earlier today, and scored a 150 for the first time in his young career. Following the departure of Danish Malewar in the first session on day two, the lower half of the Vidarbha batting lineup played extremely well, to ensure that they got within touching distance of posting a total of 400 runs and more.
