Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal turned out to be a star performer so far in the ongoing fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. The left-hander brought up his 12th half-century in Tests as India got a good start on day one of the Test. Coming to bat first after losing the toss, Jaiswal and KL Rahul came to open the innings for the Indian team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave India a good start as the duo put up an opening partnership of 94 runs. Rahul fell short of his half-century as he got out after scoring 46 runs off 98 balls hitting four boundaries. However, Jaiswal brought up his fifty in 96 balls. This was his 12 fifty in Test cricket and overall eighth 50+ score against England in the longest format.

Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes second Indian to hit 50+ score in Test match at Old Trafford

Yashasvi Jaiswal got out after a well made 58 runs off 107 balls hitting seven fours and one maximum. With this, Jaiswal also equalled Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar as he became the second Indian player after Sachin to hit a 50+ score in a Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester. Notably, Sachin is the only Indian player to hit a century at Old Trafford and Jaiswal is now just behind him in the list with his knock of 58 runs.

Talking about the match, batting first, India lost two wickets so far during the second session on day one. KL Rahul was the first batter to lose his wicket as Chris Woakes dismissed him in the 30th over. After a few overs, Liam Dawson took a big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 41st over. Currently, Sai Sudharsan is taking the innings further along with skipper Shubman Gill. After a few overs, England captain Ben Stoke ended Indian skipper Shubman Gill's innings as India went on to lose three wickets after lunch. Ahead of Tea on day one, India were at 149/3 with Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant at the crease
