After missing the first week of the NBA preseason and half of training camp, German point guard Dennis Schroder is reportedly scheduled to join Los Angeles Lakers this weekend. Following his impressive game at the FIBA EuroBasket 2022, Schroder signed a veteran's minimum contract with the Lakers last month.

In FIBA EuroBasket 2022, Schroder averaged 22.1 points, 7.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds for Germany and helped his team secure third position in the tournament.

A report by ESPN suggested, Schroder had an issue with his worker visa that delayed his trip to the United States. However, the visa issue has been resolved and the German point guard is set to join his former NBA club LA Lakers this weekend.

Last week on Schroder's absence, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said, "He's doing the best he can to stay in rhythm and to stay in shape. But it's nothing like NBA basketball and being in an NBA setting. So, once he gets here, we'll be able to throw him right into the deep end of the pool and see how he responds.

"But Dennis is a high, high-level player, super-duper competitor and takes great care of himself. So, it should be a quick turnaround for him getting into a rhythm."

During the 2020-21 season, the 29-year-old Schroder played 61 games for the Lakers and averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 assists and 1.1 steals. He featured last season for Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets, averaging 13.5 points and 4.6 assists.

The Lakers will fly to San Francisco to face defending champions Golden State Warriors for their fourth NBA preseason game. Lakers have lost all their previous three preseason games and will look to bounce back when the take on the likes of the Warriors.
