The San Sebastian police and the municipal guard have reportedly seized numerous weapons, just hours before Real Sociedad play against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round of 16-second leg at the Anoeta Stadium. The authorities also apprehended around 50 hooligans of the home team and around 100 PSG fans to thwart a potential mass brawl between them.

As per the report from Dailysports, on Tuesday, March 5, the police and the municipal guard in San Sebastian searched around 20 vehicles in the city before the UCL match. It led to them finding 15 golf clubs, a metal rod, three ice picks, four mouth guards, two pairs of brass knuckles, a long knife, two pocket knives, several screwdrivers, a hammer, a signal flare, balaclavas, and gloves.

Notably, around 2,000 fans of Paris Saint-Germain are expected to watch their team play against the hosts Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian. With the finding of numerous weapons from the fans in the hours leading up to the upcoming match, the authorities have implemented maximum security measures in the city.

In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Paris Saint-Germain got the better of Real Sociedad at the Parc des Princes in Paris with a 2-0 margin last month. Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola found themselves on the scoresheet in a relatively one-sided contest, in which the hosts had six shots on target to none from the visitors.
