The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are having a forgettable season so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side, who are co-owned by Preity Zinta are reeling in the second half of the points table with just two wins from seven matches.
However, the fitness of their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan has been the biggest concern of the side, the team is yet to come together as a unit to end on the other side of the finish line in IPL 2024. Amid their ongoing season, their co-owner Preity Zinta took to X to quash the rumours of the franchise looking to sign former MI skipper Rohit Sharma as their skipper, after the latter was removed from the helm despite being the most successful captain of the side with five IPL trophies.
I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard: Preity Zinta on false rumours
Taking to her official X handle, the Bollywood celebrity captioned a post, “#Fakenews! All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT!”
“I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste. These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties. All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024 Thank you. @PunjabKingsIPL,” Preity Zinta further wrote in her post on X.
The PBKS, who are led by their stand-in skipper Sam Curran, will next take on the Gujarat Titans at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Sunday, April 21.
