Premier League title challengers Arsenal will face in-form Newcastle United at the St.James Park on Sunday, May 7. In the Premier League 2022-23 standings, the Gunners are vying for the league title but are one point behind Manchester City with one more game played while the Magpies are third with 63 points.

Arsenal have dropped off after being impressive for the bulk of the season and if you give Manchester City a chance they will grab it. The Gunners are without a victory in their last three away league games (D2, L1), failing to win as many times as they did in their opening 14 top-flight fixtures on the road this season. Arteta’s side will be looking to keep the pressure on table-toppers Manchester City.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, are in amazing form as they have won eight of their last nine Premier League games, including each of the last three, scoring a total of 13 goals in those three victories. Newcastle won their last match against Southampton 3-1 with a brace from Callum Wilson and an own goal from Theo Walcott. The Magpies will continue to monitor Allan Saint-Maximin, who has resumed training after a hamstring injury and could come back into contention. Eddi Howe’s men will be looking to go unbeaten in both league meetings with Arsenal in a single campaign for the first time since 2010-11.

Head-to-Head:

  • In 127 matches played between them, Arsenal have won 67 while Newcastle have won 37, and 26 have been drawn.
  • Newcastle United frustrated Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in both sides’ opening Premier League match in 2023 at the Emirates Stadium in January.
  • Newcastle are vying to win three consecutive Premier League home games against Arsenal for the first time since 1996.
  • Arsenal have kept 29 clean sheets against Newcastle in the Premier League - no side has kept more against a single opponent in the competition's history.
