Prithvi Shaw, who is looking to make a comeback in Team India, has dropped a cryptic post through his Instagram handle. The top-order batter hasn’t played competitive cricket after appearing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024/25 in December 2024. Shaw is going through one of the toughest phases of his career as he was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy 2024/25 side in October 2024 and a month later, no franchise showed interest in buying him for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Following the major blows, he came under criticism from netizen for not being serious about his career.

The right-handed batter recently took to social media and posted a story which grabbed a lot of attention. Through his Instagram handle, he posted a story which read, “Need A Break.” Shaw’s last appearance for Team India happened in July 2021, in a T20 International (T20I) match played against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

If he goes back to his basics, he can achieve anything: Shashank Singh on Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi’s former Mumbai teammate Shashank Singh recently talked about Shaw and said the youngster is underrated and he can pull off success in the sport if he returns to the basics. Both players have known each other since their teenage days. "Prithvi Shaw is underrated. If he goes back to his basics, he can achieve anything. I know him since he was 13, since I've played club cricket with him in Bombay. If you ask me what's wrong with him, he has a different perspective on a few things," said Shashank in a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra.

Shashank is a part of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He has amassed 214 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 142.67. Shashank is expected to be seen in action for PBKS against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur on May 18.
