The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has submitted reports from the Meteorological Department to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As per a report from RevSportz, CAB presented the government agency’s report to claim that it will be a suitable weather for Kolkata’s Eden Gardens to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final scheduled to be played on June 3. However, BCCI has remarked that it’s too early to surmise the weather conditions now as such prediction can be made on May 25. CAB also approached India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Delhi and they also made the same claim.
CAB is expecting the BCCI to go through the reports to make an apt decision. “We remain confident that things will work out because we have done a very good job in organising everything. Also, you can’t predict weather patterns so early, and we have submitted all official documents to this effect," as quoted by RevSportz. In case CAB doesn’t get the opportunity to host playoffs and the final of the ongoing T20 extravaganza, they will be compensated by giving the rights of hosting a knockout game in the T20 World Cup which is set to be hosted by India in 2026.
CAB will conduct the Test match between India and West Indies in October
After IPL 2025, CAB will conduct the Test match between Team India and West Indies at the distinguished Eden Gardens in October. During the tour, the Caribbean side will play two red-ball matches, with the second and final game of the series to be played in the City of Joy.
India’s home season (2025-26) will begin with the two-match Test series against West Indies. Following that, India will host South Africa for two Tests followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and five T20 Internationals (T20I) after their tour to Australia.
