The Indian cricket community was left stunned by two of the senior veterans of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both putting down curtains to their respective international career in the longest format of the game. However, Rohit Sharma announced retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect on Wednesday, May 7, in just six days, Kohli also put down curtains to his illustrious Test career spanning across 14 years.

Both the cricketers to took to their social media handles to announce their decision, leaving a massive void in the Indian setup, especially in Test cricket seeing the highly-anticipated five-match Test series against England scheduled to be played in June - August. However, with the veterans now retired, the biggest question that arises is whether they will continue to be part of BCCI’s Grade A+ contract?

With the speculations hitting the roof on the same, BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia recently cleared the air around it while adding that they will retain their places in Grade A+ contract as they continue to be part of the Indian cricket team. “Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s grade A+ contract will continue even after both announced retirement from T20I and Test matches. They are still part of Indian cricket, they will get all facilities of Grade A+,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted by ANI.

With the duo now retired from Tests as well as T20Is, they will only be seen donning the Indian jersey in the 50-over format, eyeing to prolong their career. Speaking of their contract, apart from them, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are the two other players who are part of the Grade A+ contract.
