Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly proposed a massive contract offer worth 1 billion euros to French superstar Kylian Mbappe. The offered deal will make Mbappe the benefactor of the most lucrative deal in history.
If accepted by the 24-year-old currently linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, it would be the highest-paid sports contract of all time and provide the Frenchman with a strong chance of topping Forbes' list of The World's Highest-Paid Athletes each year for the foreseeable future. The development was reported by Defensa Central, which stated the extension of 10 years, will allow the Frenchman to earn €1 billion ($1.11 billion) with an extra 12 months optional.
Mbappe has been a long-term target for Real Madrid, who are keen to sign the World Cup-winning forward as their marquee signing. Mbappe has also expressed admiration towards the Spanish club and president Florentino Perez. However, PSG are determined to keep their star attacker and help them achieve their ultimate goal of winning the UEFA Champions League.
Over the last few weeks, Sky Sports reported about PSG giving Mbappe an ultimatum of either committing by extending his contract or being sold this summer. The Ligue 1 champions do not want to lose him as a free agent next year and risk losing out on a huge transfer fee. It remains to be seen whether Mbappe will accept PSG's mind-blowing offer or push for a move to Real Madrid this summer.
