PSL 2021 likely to resume in May, to clash with IPL: Reports

Pakistan Super League 6 was officially postponed after increase in COVID-19 cases in the bio-bubble.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is mulling over to host the sixth edition of recently postponed Pakistan Super League in two phases. After completion of 14 matches of this edition, PCB was forced to postpone the tournament due to increase number of Coronavirus cases. As on now the tournament has been postponed for an indefinite time.

We will be looking at other windows: PCB CEO Wasim Khan

PCB CEO Wasim Khan has admitted on the board failing to make a secure bio-bubble for the teams, players and other staff members. However, he is hopeful of conducting the tournament in coming times. He also emphasizes on PCB’s approach to work on bubble in order to help the players exit it safely and head back to their respective places.

“We will be looking at other windows and we hope to play the event at a later time. What’s taking place right now is that we are carefully and slowly exiting, exiting players from our environment so that we can safely get them out and they can start to travel to wherever they need to travel in terms of moving forward. But we want to continue and finish the PSL,” Wasim Khan said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

BCCI to announce the schedule of IPL 2021 after 4th Test

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is under discussions to host the IPL 2021. However, the official schedule is yet to be announced, the board earlier confirmed of conducting it in the month of April-May.

The schedule is likely to clash if the PCB confirms of completing the season in May. In such a scenario, players like Faf du Plessis, Chris Gayle, Chris Lynn, Mohammad Nabi and many others will have a difficult time to choose between the two.
