The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled Pakistan Super League trophy in a magnificent ceremony in Lahore on Thursday (February 9) in the presence of franchise owners and PCB Chairman Najam Sethi. The eighth edition of the league is scheduled to commence on February 13, with the opener to be played between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans in Multan.

The 34-match tournament will take place in four major cities -Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan and Karachi, and the final will be played at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore on March 19. “The 24-Karat Supernova Trophy has been made in Pakistan and showcases the country’s skilled craftsmanship. National team’s motto, artistry, recognition and prestige were conveyed in the brand-new Pakistan Super League eight trophy,” PCB said in an official statement.

Mr. Sethi also stated that Pakistan wants to celebrate the pinnacle of cricket i.e., PSL which is taking place in front of home fans. “We decide to design a new trophy that encompasses our spirit as a proud nation and launch at the Shalimar Gardens, which is a national treasure and a symbol of pride for all of us. Meanwhile, the Supernova Trophy is a testament to the passion and perseverance of Pakistan people and serves as a source of inspiration for future generation of players,” Mr. Sethi said.

The PCB Chairman further said that the prestigious silverware will provide extra incentive and motivation to the players, which in turn will motivate the best out of them to make this year’s event most exciting, enthralling and entertaining for all the cricket fans.

Meanwhile, PCB announced that Asim Axhar, Shae Gill and Faris Shafi will sing the PSL anthem this year, which will be produced by Abdullah Siddiqui.
