Most Chelsea supporters' hopes for a strong start to the new season are now beginning to fade after Saturday's 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. The result left the Blues, languishing in 11th place, much to the disappointment of the Stamford Bridge supporters.

This result has sparked a lot of discussion over Chelsea's poor performance on social media as supporters try to figure out why their team managed to muster just two shots on target throughout the entire game despite having almost 80% of the possession. As a result, a Chelsea-based Instagram page aired its thoughts on the game, criticising the defence line and claiming that Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva was a contributing role in the loss against Forest.

The post said:
"This won’t go down well, but I think it’s time to drop Thiago Silva. Playing him is becoming a problem because we have to play a back-five to shoehorn him in. Playing four at the back will allow us to be better going forward, and I don’t think we’ll suffer much at the back. Nothing but respect to Thiago, but I think we’d be better off without him at the minute."

As was to be expected, this statement drew a lot of criticism in the comments section, where the majority of responses disagreed with the viewpoint expressed and held that Thiago Silva is not a serious problem for the team. 10 minutes after the post was published, he reacted in the comments to try to eliminate any claims that the team's performance was being held back by his presence.

The 38-year-old centre-back hit back at the account accusing him of being accountable for the defeat over the weekend by writing, "If you look closely at the game, we are playing with a line of four my friend! But there's no problem in assuming that I'm also responsible for the defeat. Put the pressure on me no problem yesterday!"

Silva jumped to defend his position, quickly disproving the idea put forth regarding the formation problems. He insisted that he did not mind the pressure and accepted full responsibility for the weekend loss.
