Former India coach Rahul Dravid was seen playing KSCA League division III game with his son Anvay Dravid on February 22. Back in June 2024, he guided Team India to their second T20 World Cup title victory after the Men in Blue bagged a close seven-run win against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final played in Barbados. With the triumph, India also doused their ICC trophy thirst which was going on since their Champions Trophy 2013 victory. Dravid relinquished India’s coaching responsibility after the T20I event held in the US and West Indies and signed up with IPL 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) in September 2024 for the upcoming season of the league.
Appearing for Vijaya Cricket Club against Young Lions, former India batter started innings for his team alongside his son Anvay. Batting first, Vijaya Club saw their star stalwart stitching a 17-run stand with his son. The 52-year-old walked back to the dugout after contributing 10 runs to his side. Lions bowler AR Ullas got the better of him. India legend departed early but his son Anvay played an impressive 58-run innings off 60 deliveries. Anvay’s innings helped Vijaya Club to bag a 24-run win and qualify for the semi-finals.
Dravid’s return to RR camp
Rahul Dravid will make a comeback in the RR camp after 10 years with his appearance as head coach of the team in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Back in 2011, Dravid made his debut for Rajasthan as a player. In the 2012 and 2013 seasons, he also captained the Pink Army. After retiring from all forms of cricket, he served Royals as their mentor in the 2014 and 2015 league editions.
Rajasthan will kick off their 2025 campaign against the 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 23. Under Dravid’s leadership, the Royals will look to extinguish their title drought and lift the coveted trophy after 17 years.
