BCCI named India squad for the Ireland series on Wednesday. The Men in Blue led by Hardik Pandya will tour Ireland for a two-match T20 series starting June 26. Although the team starred name of SRH opener Rahul Tripathi after his brilliant performance with the bat in the Indian Premier League 2022, one prominent name which missed out from the list was of Rahul Tewatia.

The 29-year-old had played a key role in Gujarat Titans win the their maiden IPL season, lifting the title. Rahul Tewatia after the squad announcement for the series had put a two-word tweet expressing his disappointment. “Expectations hurts (sic)”, he tweeted after the announcement.

Rahul Tewatia’s post has gone viral after this and has garnered more than 20,000 likes on Twitter. While some users have expressed sympathy on this, a few others assured that he’ll soon star in Indian colours.

The all-rounder had earlier got a call-up for T20I series against Australia but then also he failed to clear the fitness test. Post that, he hasn’t got a chance to don the Indian colours.

Talking about his performance in the Indian Premier League 2022, the GT all-rounder scored 217 runs at an average of 31 and strike rate of 147.62 from the 16 games he played for the side.
