Madho Nagar Public Senior Secondary School on Friday won the Jaipur leg of the Rajasthan Royals Cricket Cup as they defeated Sanskar School by 43 runs in the district final held here at the Sanskar Cricket Academy. The victory means that Madho Nagar Public Senior Secondary School from Todi Harmada, Jaipur will join the winners of the previous district legs in the Final leg of the Rajasthan Royals Cricket Cup which will take place in early October.
Govt. Senior Secondary School, Khedla (Bhilwara), Mayo College Girls' School (Ajmer), and Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Badnu (Bikaner) have already qualified for the Final leg.
The two-day action at the Sanskar Cricket Academy culminated with Madho Nagar Public Senior Secondary School and Sanskar School making it to the Jaipur district Final as they won their respective knockout matches. While Madho Nagar Public Senior Secondary School beat Curious Kids Academy by 59 runs on Thursday, Sanskar School defeated Jaipuria Vidyalaya by 68 runs.
In the district Final on Friday, Madho Nagar Senior Secondary School put up a total of 98-2 in their 10 overs with Siddhi Sharma top-scoring with 54 not out. Chasing 99 to win the Jaipur district Final, Sanskar School was put under pressure and could only manage 55-8 in their 10 overs in reply.
16-year-old Priya Samota from Madho Nagar Senior Secondary School won the Blue Cap for the most wickets (3), while her 18-year-old teammate Siddhi Sharma top scored with 124 runs to bag the Pink Cap. 16-year-old Nandini from Jaipuria Vidyalaya was awarded the Best Catch award, while Siddhi Sharma also scored the most fours (21).
The competition which is being organized this month across seven districts in the Royals' home state of Rajasthan, is aimed at making cricket more inclusive and accessible to the talented girl cricketers in Rajasthan. The tournament has seen the introduction of an innovative soft pink ball which is enabling more girls to play the sport at a starting level.
The tournament will now move to Kota on 17th September 2023, before being played in Jodhpur on 20th & 21st September 2023, and then in Udaipur on 23rd & 24th September 2023.
