Ravichandran Ashwin, who became the second fastest cricketer to claim 400 wickets in Test cricket, recently talked about his incredible achievement, his career numbers, his planning regime and so much more in a heart-warming interview with India’s fielding coach R Sridhar. The 34-year-old revealed that he did not even realize about the milestone initially as he was so engrossed in the game. R Ashwin, who dismissed Jofra Archer to reach the magic-figure, added that when the DRS was taken, the landmark was flashed on the screen and the entire stadium got up and started to clap, he then came to terms with his incredible feat.

Ashwin, who graduated with a B. Tech degree in IT, reflected on his journey as an Indian cricketer so far. The all-rounder told that he was always a cricket-lover who accidentally went on to become a cricketer as well.
The 34-year-old said, “I am living my dream. I never thought I will wear the Indian jersey. Covid times made me realize how lucky I am to play for the country.” Ashwin added that it is a blessing for him to win games for India.
Ashwin talks about his new planning regime
The all-rounder talked about his planning regime and the kind of homework he does before a match. Ashwin, who took 12 wickets in 3 matches during India’s recent triumph Down Under, revealed that he watched 8-hours of straight footage before the first Test in Adelaide.
Ashwin admitted that he started taking cues from the footages on YouTube as he doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned now. Reflecting on how this habit has helped him recently, the all-rounder said, “I am able to pick batsmen what they are doing. Even before I have bowled, I kind of understand what shot they are going to play.”
After the conclusion of third Test, Ashwin’s record reads an incredible 401 wickets in 77 matches. He also has 2643 runs to his name, that includes 5 Test centuries. As skipper Virat Kohli said, Ashwin is actually a modern-day legend in Test cricket.
