Real Madrid have agreed to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen on a whopping £50 million contract, securing his stay at the Galacticos till 2030. The 20-year-old, who plays for Spain after being born in the Netherlands, will be joining Real Madrid before the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after agreeing to leave his Bournemouth contract early, at the conclusion of the ongoing 2024-25 season.

Notably, after joining Bournemouth on a £12.6 million contract from Juventus last summer, Dean Huijsen has played exceptionally well in defence in 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals as well. With that, there was a lot of interest in the transfer market for him, and Real Madrid acted swiftly to sign him on a contract from Bournemouth, who will have to pay 10% of his transfer fee to Juventus.

As per the report published in Sky Sports, the clubs like Newcastle, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea were looking to potentially sign Dean Huijsen for next season, but they were beaten to the post by the Galacticos. The youngster had also looked forward to making a move to Spain after being a youth player at Malaga a few years ago, and it came to reality for him when Real Madrid came calling for him.

Dean Huijsen has been instrumental in Bournemouth's impressive Premier League 2024-25 campaign

While Real Madrid have sent out a few posts on their official X account, to confirm the signing of Dean Huijsen, their counterparts Bournemouth were the first to make the news official on social media. In their statement, they wrote, “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that defender Dean Huijsen will join Real Madrid following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, with the Spanish side having activated a £50 million release clause.”

“The centre-back, who joined the Cherries from Juventus last summer, has been instrumental in the club’s record-breaking campaign, which has seen Andoni Iraola’s side already break their highest points tally in the Premier League,” Bournemouth added.
