Experienced off-spinner R Ashwin will be one of the most instrumental cog in Team India during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Rohit Sharma-led Team India will look to retain the prestigious title for the third time on the trot when they will kick start the highly anticipated four-match Test series, on February 9, 2023, in Nagpur.

Meanwhile, Ashwin is widely looked up as one of the best all-rounders in the format, while specifically his turns are expected to pose a tough challenge to in-form Australian batters. While Ashwin has already joined the team in Nagpur and taking part in practice sessions, he expressed his displeasure on Saturday with one of the details about himself published on one of the websites. The website had the basic details such as Name, age, playing role and batting style along with his bowling style.

In the bowling style, it was mentioned that "Right-arm off break? Right-arm leg break?" which caused a frenzy on Twitter. “My morning coffee came with this and I wonder who has done this,” Ashwin tweeted with the picture of the wrong detail. Meanwhile, Ashwin’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals too commented and wrote, “Hello and welcome to Day 1 of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.”

Earlier, Ashwin hogged a lot of limelight as he took a sly dig at the Australian batter Steven Smith for his ‘practice games are irrelevant’ comment. Reacting to Smith’s claim, Ashwin said that Aussies are known for their mind games and Smith’s comment is nothing but to divert our attention.

“Smith said, ‘We got a green wicket in Brabourne and a completely opposite one in the first Test (during the 2017 series). In all fairness, it was ranked turner in Pune. We might have given them a green track, but nobody plans all these things. Australians are known for their mind games and sledges before a series. They love doing that. It’s their style of cricket,” Ashwin said.
