The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, January 18 named India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be played from February 19 onwards in Pakistan and the UAE. Notably, the Men in Blue have been placed in Group A alongside hosts Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Coming back to the squad, while Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the marquee tournament, top-order batter Shubman Gill has been named his deputy after previously serving in the role in the Sri Lanka white-ball series last year. The squad also included the likes of Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who is nursing a back injury, he was joined by Mohammed Shami, who is set to return to international cricket in the England T20Is.

Earlier, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif also highlighted how fans have emotions attacked with Pant and he has reached at par with former India cricketer and World Cup winner MS Dhoni. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif said, “With Rishabh Pant, people have their emotions attached. He is a big match-winner in Tests. Who can forget his knock at the Gabba and the hundred in South Africa? He perfoms well in overseas conditions. He is a good wicketkeeper. Rishabh Pant has almost reached the same level as MS Dhoni.”
