Former Manchester City and Inter Milan manager, Roberto Mancini has been given an extension just as promised by the Italian Board. Reportedly, it was added in his contract that if he gains qualification for Euro 2020, then he will receive an extension. Roberto's contract was set to expire after World Cup 2022 in Russia. But now it has been extended till 2026.

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has proclaimed Mancini will coach Italy in the next two European Championships and two World Cups.

"It's an announcement that we've been working for some time because a project needs time to be completed and we wanted to continue to the work that has been done in the last three years", Gravina said in an official release.

"I'm interested in the path that leads to victory, and we'll achieve victory the day that we have done a truly great job. With Roberto, there is respect for the role as well as full agreement on what objectives are," he added.

In response to his contract extension, Mancini stated, "I'm very happy. I must thank the Federation and President Gravina. We're trying to carry on the work that we've already reaped the benefits of. The fact that I can put together a team that is well-liked gives me a lot of satisfaction and I'm optimistic for the future."

Italy, along with Turkey, Wales, and Switzerland, has been included in Group A for Euro 2020. On June 11, they play Turkey in the tournament's first match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. On June 16, they will host Switzerland, and on June 20, they will host Wales.
