Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians batter, was spotted having a hearty chat with the Kolkata Knight Riders players when their scheduled IPL 2024 match at the Eden Gardens got delayed due to rain. The pictures went viral just a day after Rohit Sharma hinted to Abhishek Nayar, the KKR assistant coach, that the ongoing IPL season could be his last with Mumbai Indians.
In the aftermath of the Mumbai Indians team management handing over the captaincy to Hardik Pandya, relieving Rohit Sharma of his duties, the performances of the five-time champions in the IPL 2024 has been far from impressive. MI have won only four out of 12 matches in the ongoing IPL season, becoming the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs race.
During a lengthy rain delay in Kolkata, Rohit Sharma took time to meet up with the Kolkata Knight Riders players and staff inside their dugout. The 37-year-old, who has been an institution in Indian cricket for years, is known for his friendly behaviour with everyone in the sport, and this was one of the many occasions he showcased it to the fullest.
Suryakumar Yadav also indulged in a chat with the Kolkata Knight Riders players, while it’s important to note that he was a key part of their setup for many a year in the IPL.
Moreover, Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking to secure yet another win in the IPL 2024, to be a step closer to securing a top two spot on the points table. But, for that to happen, the weather gods in Kolkata have to abate for KKR to get their second win in the tournament over MI after winning at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earlier in the season.
