India captain Rohit Sharma looked ruthless with his bat in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. His exceptional performance has been receiving appreciation from social media users. Chasing a target of 252 runs, India got a fierce start from Rohit, who stitched a 105-run stand with his opening partner Shubman Gill, who chipped in with 31 runs after facing 50 balls. The 37-year-old completed his half-century off just 41 deliveries and silenced his critics who were targeting the veteran for not delivering impactful knocks to the team in the tournament.

The right-handed batter departed in the 27th over of the innings after hitting 76 off 83 deliveries with 10 boundaries (seven fours and three maximums). Rachin Ravindra brought an end to his superb innings. Before the dismissal, Rohit brought cheers to the faces of Team India supporters and several went to X and expressed their joy on the social media site to commend their star batter. Reacting to Rohit’s innings, a user named Chandan Singh wrote, “Rohit Sharma is truly a legend with his flawless batting. His ability to dominate the game, especially as an opener, is unmatched. Long live the Hitman's magic on the field.”

India under pressure after three quick wickets

Despite having a majestic start from their captain, India are witnessing themselves in the crunch situation as their top-order batters Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli failed to hold their nerves and departed in quick succession. After the couple of wickets, India’s innings shook as Rohit also fell against Ravindra while attempting to attack the spinner.

As of writing, India are 182/4 in 38.4 overs, with Axar Patel playing at an unbeaten 22 off 35 and KL Rahul just arriving at the crease after Shreyas Iyer getting dismissed after amassing 48 off 62. New Zealand spinners Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Ravindra have picked up four wickets together.
