The day has finally come where Team India is taking on New Zealand in the summit clash of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. While the Men in Blue are coming unbeaten in the tournament, New Zealand have registered only one loss, where they went down against India in their last group stage match. For the unversed, Mitchell Santner-led side had won the toss and elected to bat first.
After winning the toss, the Kiwis posted 251 runs at the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 50 overs. While Rachin Ravindra gave a brisk start at the top, Daryl Mitchell played a crucial knock of 101-ball 63 whereas Michael Bracewell also played a cameo, scoring unbeaten 53 off 40 deliveries.
Kane Williamson suffers quad injury; Mark Chapman replaces him
Veteran Kiwi batter Kane Williamson managed to get 11 runs off 14 deliveries, but was seen struggling with some injury. As a result, he did not take the field in the second innings. The Black Caps later confirmed a quad injury for the senior batter with Mark Chapman replacing him in the XI.
“Team update | Kane Williamson will not field in the second innings of the Champions Trophy final due to a quad strain sustained while batting. Mark Chapman has taken his place in the field,” Black Caps captioned a post on X.
