
Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his residence on Tuesday after his retirement from the Test format. Fadnavis presented Rohit with a bouquet and sent his wishes for the 38-year-old following his departure from the longest format of the game. Rohit called off his Test career via Instagram story on May 7 where he wrote “I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in white. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”
A few days after his retirement from the longest format of the game, Rohit Sharma was welcomed by Maharashtra CM at his official residence Varsha in Mumbai. Devendra Fadnavis shared a picture of him with Rohit and shared it with a caption “It was great to welcome, meet and interact with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma at my official residence Varsha. I extended my best wishes to him on his retirement from Test cricket and for continued success in the next chapter of his journey!”
Mumbai Cricket Association to unveil Rohit Sharma stand at Wankhede Stadium on May 16
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to inaugurate Rohit Sharma’s stand at Wankhede Stadium on May 16. Along with Rohit, The MCA will unveil the stands named after Ajit Wadekar and Sharad Pawar. The unveiling ceremony was previously scheduled to take place on May 13 but not has been postponed to May 16 due to the tensions between India and Pakistan at the border.
India’s 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy winning captain Rohit Sharma will get a stand named after him at the The Divecha Pavilion Level 3. On the other hand, former captain Ajit Wadekar will be honoured with a stand named after him at The Grand Stand Level 4. After that, The Grand Stand Level 3 will be named after Sharad Pawar.
