India will tour England for five Tests in June and weeks before the crucial assignment, the visiting side witnessed their legendary players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hanging up their boots from the longest form of the sport. Without Rohit, it will be crucial to see who the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to handle the leadership mantle. The board will also have to find an efficient batter for number four position, who can deliver impactful numbers to the team as Virat did for years.

Amidst these developments, we have come up with India’s probable 15-member squad for the upcoming England tour

Batters: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Karun Nair

Yashasvi Jaiswal will be handed the responsibility to open the innings for the team. However, it will be interesting to see who will be supporting him from the other end as both KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan are contenders for the opening slot along with the left-handed batter. Shubman Gill might be given the captaincy mantle and if that happens, he will have to lead the team from the front. As number three batter, he will have to deliver effective results.

Shreyas Iyer might be seen making a comeback in the Test side after 16 months. Karun Nair, who did a phenomenal job for Vidarbha in First-Class games in the 2024-25 season, may also be given the opportunity to represent India after staying out of the national squad for more than eight years

Wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel

Rishabh Pant is highly likely to be the vice-captain of the side. Handling the massive responsibility, he will have to support the side as middle-order wicketkeeper batter.

All-rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Washington Sundar

Ravindra Jadeja has played a lot of cricket in England and he will be expected to utilise his experience and all-round skills to deliver fine numbers to the team in all departments of the game. Nitish Kumar Reddy is another all-rounder who has the potential to trouble the home side. In Australia, he looked impressive with his bat in the Test played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and notched up his maiden Test ton. He will be expected to replicate that performance in England. Washington Sundar will be reinforcing the team's spin attack with Jadeja while as a batter, he will have to do wonders while playing at the lower-middle-order.

Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Akash Deep

Jasprit Bumrah will be spearheading India’s fast-bowling unit while the 31-year-old will be supported by Mohammed Siraj, who holds a decent record in English conditions. Mukesh Kumar’s superb bowling show for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 might earn him a spot in the team against the English side. Akash Deep might be seen in another overseas tour and this time, he will have to prove himself.
