Rajasthan Royals continued the trend of home teams winning in IPL 2024 after defeating the Delhi Capitals by 12 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After losing the toss, RR was asked to bat first, who got to a disappointing start with Yashasvi Jaiswal getting out at a score of five in seven balls.

Royals' struggles continued with DC picking up quick wickets but Riyan Parag, who started slow, gradually started to get going. The Odisha star reached his fifty and then exploded to score 85 in 46 balls to help RR post 185. Supporting Parag, Ashwin scored 29 in 19 balls while Dhruv Jurel contributed with a 12-ball 20.

Chasing this total, the Capitals had a quick start with Mitchell Marsh and David Warner 30 in just three overs. But quick wickets and stunning bowling performances from the likes of Avesh Khan, Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal pulled things. Building on this momentum, RR put forth another stunning display of death bowling to clinch the game with a 12-run margin.

Reacting to this loss, Rishabh Pant said, "Definitely disappointed. Best thing we can do from this is learn from it. The bowlers did really well till 15-16 overs, batters sometimes go on at the death and score quickly, that happened in this game."

" Marsh and Warner gave a good start, but we lost a few wickets in the middle overs and in the end, we had too many runs to cover up. There are other options, we wanted Nortje to bowl at the death and sometimes you can go for runs, hopefully, we can do better in the next match," he continued.
