On Monday, April 28, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by eight wickets, to register a comeback win in match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After GT posted 209 runs on the board in their 20 overs, on the back of 38-ball 101 and unbeaten 70 from Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR chased the 210-run target with ease inside 15.5 overs.

For the unversed, the captain of RR, Riyan Parag, won the toss and decided to field first. Thus inviting the visitors to put the score first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill stitched 93-run stand for the opening wicket. However, Sai Sudharsan’s innings came to an end in the 11th over, courtesy a brilliant delivery from Maheesh Theekshana which Riyan Parag adjudged well and completed an easy catch. Gill was then joined by Jos Buttler, who went on score an unbeaten 50 off 26 deliveries.

The GT skipper, Shubman Gill starred with the bat, scoring 50-ball 84 and the visitors put a competitive total on the board. For the hosts, Maheesh Theekshana picked two wickets, Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma bagged one each.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi stars with his 38-ball 101; guides RR to eighth place in IPL 2025 standings

In the run chase, RR got to a brisk start as the two openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and 14-year-old star player Vaibhav Suryavanshi stitched a 166-run stand, which is the highest for RR for any wicket in IPL, breaking the record of 155 between Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler. Moreover, the 166-run partnership now is the highest for the first wicket in IPL.

However, Prasidh Krishna got the big man of the day, Vaibhav after he played a 101-run knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his power-hitting as he played an unbeaten 40-ball 70. Riyan Parag, the stand-in skipper also played a quickfire 32* to guide his side home and jump to the eighth place in the IPL 2025 standings.
