In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 1, the visitors bagged a 100-run victory. Batting first after winning the toss, RR invited MI to bat first. Riding on the brilliant knocks from Rohit Sharma (53 off 36) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38), Mumbai shattered the hosts’ bowling attack’s confidence. Both batters stitched an opening partnership of 116 runs from 71 balls. Following the departure of both openers, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya stepped up and pounded bowlers mercilessly.
The MI skipper and vice-captain maintained a 94-run stand together for the third wicket off just 44 balls. Both produced twin innings of 48 runs after facing 23 balls respectively. Mumbai erected a colossal total of 217/2 on the board after completing their 20-over quota. From Rajasthan, Maheesh Theekshana and Riyan Parag got one wicket apiece.

Pursuing the humongous target, RR were expecting Vaibhav Suryavanshi to replicate his previous game’s performance but this time, the 14-year-old couldn’t score any runs as Deepak Chahar got rid of him in the opening over. Suryavanshi was joined by his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, who got unsuccessful in tackling Trent Boult in the second over of the innings. The southpaw lost his wicket after amassing 13 off six.
Within the first powerplay of their innings, the 2008 champions lost half of their batters. From Rajasthan, only Jofra Archer displayed fighting spirit and accumulated 30 runs off 27 balls. The England pacer's innings helped RR reach 117 in 16.1 overs. Mumbai emerged victorious by 100 runs and this was their sixth win on the trot. RR are now officially out of the playoffs contention, along with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
