Young batting star Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made headlines with his performance for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025,, achieved another feat while representing India U-19 in a 40-over match against England U-19 in Northampton on July 2. While chasing a target of 269 runs, the 14-year-old smashed a fifty in just 20 balls as India U-19 are on the verge of win against the hosts.
With this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now smashed the second fastest 50 by an Indian player in the Under-19 cricket. He brought his fifty in style with a six against James Minto. The left-hander got out after smashing 86 runs off just 31 balls hitting six fours and nine sixes as India were far ahead from England U-19 while chasing the target. Rishabh Pant has smashed the fastest half-century by an Indian in Under-19 cricket. The wicketkeeper batter smashed a fifty off just 18 balls during a match against Nepal in the 2016 U-19 World Cup.
India U-19 take 2-1 lead in five-match series
Talking about the match, India U-19 registered a convincing win over England U-19 to take a 2-1 lead in a five matches series. Batting first, England U-19 posted 268/6 in their 40 overs. Skipper Thomas Rew top scored with 76(44) runs while BJ Dawkins contributed with 62(61) runs. Isaac Mohammed and Ben Mayes also regsitered scored of 41 and 31 respectively. For India U-19, Kanishk Chouhan took three wickets while Deepesh Devendran, Vihaan Malhotra, Naman Pushpak scalped a wicket each.
Chasing the winning target, Vaibhav Suryavanshi shone with a knock of 86(31) runs as India U-19 went far away from England U-19 while chasing a target. Along with him, Kanishk Chouhan (43* off 42) and RS Ambrish (31* off 30) gave finishing touches with bat as India U-19 won the match in 34.3 overs losing six wickets.
