The Bangalore -based franchise who now has a team other than the men’s team in the Indian Premier League, shared a post on social media on Mirza’s joining the cricket world. “While our coaching staff handle the cricket side of things, we couldn’t think of anyone better to guide our women cricketers about excelling under pressure and playing bold.”

“Join us in welcoming the mentor of our women’s team, a champion athlete and a trailblazer in women’s sports!”, the franchise further wrote.

In another video shared by the franchise, Sania Mirza extended her pleasure to step in the new role as mentor. “Indian women’s cricket has seen a tectonic shift with the Women’s Premier League, and I am really looking forward to being a part of this revolutionary pitch,” she said.

Sania Mirza last featured at the Australian Open 2023, where she ended as the Runners Up alongside Rohan Bopanna in what was her last Grand Slam appearance of her career. However, the 36-year-old will now be seen on the tennis court in her last match of professional career at the Dubai Tennis Championship.

Talking about the Bangalore-based franchise, they roped in India Women opener Smriti Mandhana for a record price of INR 3.4 Crore. The side also secured the services of Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh to name a few.
