With the talks around the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) already underway, speculations are rife of Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson leaving the franchise. However, the chatters have been around for quite some time now, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are looking to be probable contender to rope in the services of the wicketkeeper-batter.

With the buzz spread wide across, a senior CSK official recently opened up on the prospects of looking at options of getting Samson from the Royals. However, they confirmed that there haven’t been any formal communication with the RR management as of date, but they are keen to get the Indian wicketkeeper-batter.

Sanju Samson likely to join CSK ahead of IPL 2026

The CSK official, who is said to be involved in the decision making process, was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, "We are definitely looking at Sanju Samson. He is an Indian batter, who is a keeper and opener. So if he is available, we will certainly have a look at the option of having him in our fold. Who we will trade him we have not taken that call because the matter has not gone that far".

If the move comes to reality, Samson will be seen as a key figure, joining veteran wicketkeeper-batter and former captain MS Dhoni in the Yellow Army. Moreover, if the talks progress between the franchises, CSK will have a tough task in order to decide which player to offer in return. Several reports have also claimed that a potential like-for-like trade-off could involve skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.
