With the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) reaching its penultimate stage, the action will now shift to the much-awaited playoffs. But ahead of the IPL 2024 playoffs, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have received major concerns in regard to the security at the stadiums. 

Ahead of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) versus SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) Qualifier 1 in IPL 2024, which is set to be played on Tuesday, May 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the city police has arrested four suspected IS terrorists. According to the officials, the Ahmedabad Police have taken steps to bolster security in and around the stadium to ensure safety of all attendees. 

Moreover, the Ahmedabad Police have also provided details about the deployment of officials, stating that around 3,000 personnel will be on duty. Furthermore, they have reported that five Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and 10 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) will also be on duty including more than 800-plus private security personnel inside the stadium premises. 

The police have also deployed a convoy at the stadium to prevent any incidents from occurring during the matches. 

KKR to play SRH in Qualifier 1; RR to face RCB in Eliminator 

Speaking of the IPL 2024, which has come a long way after the conclusion of 70 league stage matches, the table-toppers in Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:30 pm IST. Moreover, in the Eliminator, the Rajasthan Royals, who have been struggling in second half of the season will take on Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the same venue on Wednesday, May 22.

While the winner of Qualifier 1 will directly make for IPL 2024 finals, the loser will get another chance and face the winner of RR vs RCB clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, May 24.
