The World Athletics Championships are underway in Budapest. On Day 3 of the Championships, United States sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson bought an end to her three years promise as she delivered late to win the 100m gold on Monday, August 21.

The Olympic athlete clocked Championship record of 10.65 to beat Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. With this she took the previous best set by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by 0.02 seconds, which the latter had recorded last year.

“From the beginning of the journey, I’m honoured, I’m blessed, it was great competition and brought out the best in myself. I’m not back, I’m better, and I’m going to continue to be better,” she said in the press conference.

While Sha’Carri Richardson took the gold with a record timing, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson won the silver with 10.72 and Fraser-Pryce taking the bronze with 10.77.

In another instance, it is being reported that the Jamaican Shelly Ann Fraser broke Usain Bolt’s record to become the most successful Jamaican athlete in the history of World Outdoor Athletics Championships. With this third-place finish, Fraser has moved above Bolt to 15 medals, with Bolt having 14 medals with 11 of them being gold.
