India and Australia are all set to take the field in a high-octane clash of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The two teams are although coming after some contrasting results, but the upcoming match is set to be of high stakes, seeing the rivalry shared between the two teams on the basis of their past results.
As they take the field in Dubai on Tuesday, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh shared a blunt message for Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. However his message for Shami was related to Travis Head, who has always scored runs, playing big knocks especially against India. But this time, Bhajji, as he is fondly called, made his intentions clear.
Shami saab, bahut ho gaya Travis Head ka kaam, now don't let him score runs: Harbhajan Singh
Speaking to the broadcasters ahead of the first semi-final, Harbhajan Singh pointed out three things that the Indian team needs to do to go past the Aussies. “First thing is, get the fear of Travis Head out of your mind. Try and get Travis Head out. Shami saab, bahut ho gaya Travis Head ka kaam, now don't let him score runs,” Bhajji began, highlighting how Shami needs to step up to dismiss the Aussie opener.
“The Second, they have hard-hitters like Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, they deal in sixes and fours. Don't let them score at a fast pace. Thirdly, it's a knockout game and you don't need to try too much, just play like the way you have played so far," Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
It is to be noted that Head’s numbers against India in ODIs underline the threat. In nine innings, Head has amassed 345 runs at an average of 43.12, including a century which came in the 2023 CWC final. Moreover, the Aussie opener has had a great record against the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. In the 2023 final, Head scored 137 off 120 deliveries to help Aussie win the title.
