Former New Zealand pacer and Mumbai Indians bowling coach, Shane Bond has parted ways with his IPL franchise. The five-time champions on Wednesday, October 18 took to social media to extend their gratitude to the former Kiwi player as he decided to quit his position a bowling coach with the Mumbai Indians.

It is to be noted that Bond, who was the head coach of the MI Emirates in the inaugural edition of the International League T20, has moved from that role too, the franchise revealed in their statement on Wednesday. “Mumbai Indians announce that Shane Bond’s successful tenure that began in 2015 has ended after a nine-year stint with the team, bringing down the curtain on an illustrious career that included 4 IPL trophies as bowling coach for Mumbai Indians, and Head Coach of MI Emirates in the inaugural season in ILT20,” the statement read.

The 48-year-old New Zealand great acknowledged the opportunity of being the part of the MI One Family and spoke about his experience with the franchise.

“I would like to thank the Ambani family for the opportunity to be part of MI One Family for the last nine seasons. It has been an incredible experience with so many great memories on and off the field. I have been lucky enough to work with and have strong relationships with so many great people, both players and staff”, Bond said as quoted in MI’s release.

“I will miss them all and wish them all the best for the future”, he concluded his statement, extending gratitude for the support by the MI Paltan. It is to be noted that the former Kiwi pacer took charge as the bowling coach in 2015 and was part of the side in their title triumph in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
