With two games remaining in the IPL 2024 campaign, Punjab Kings have received a massive blow after two of their key players, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and regular captain Shikhar Dhawan are ruled out. The 17th edition of the IPL hasn't gone as per plan as they became the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race.
But it wasn't all disappointing for Punjab as they discovered many great talents like Shashank Singh, Ashutosh Sharma and Vidwath Kaverappa among others. Now a day before the game against the Rajasthan Royals, a report by the Times of India confirmed two major blows for the Kings.
Dhawan and Rabada ruled out of PBKS' last two IPL 2024 games
Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and regular captain Shikhar Dhawan have been ruled out of their last two matches. Rabada is suffering from Abscesses and has returned to South Africa. Whereas Dhawan sustained an injury in his shoulder while fielding during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9, and since then, he has been on the sidelines as Sam Curran took over the charge in his absence.
Lots of disappointment and apologies to the fans: Sam Curran
After their latest defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Curran spoke about how he and the team want to apologise to their fans for a disappointing season. Curran said, "A lot of positive signs throughout the season, but not enough to get over the line, unfortunately. We knew that we had the best side for the rest of the tournament and feel gutted for the team. Gotta keep our heads up, keep learning and keep becoming better."
"Really enjoyed leading a great bunch of guys, would have loved a few more wins. We had some highs, and some record run-chases as well. Lots of disappointment and apologies to the fans, we will keep fighting. The ups and downs have been quite tough, but you gotta keep learning and keep working hard."
