On Friday, August 15, India celebrated its 79th year of Independence. While it was a joyous moment for the entire country and beyond, several cricketers too expressed themselves while extending their wishes on the occasion of Independence Day. Amidst this, star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s post had something extra on offer.
The 27-year-old Indian cricketer, who recently featured in the five-match Test series against England, took some time to share some unseen videos of India’s Champions Trophy triumph. It is to be noted just nine months after Rohit Sharma led Team India to T20 World Cup triumph, he led India to another title victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in March 2025. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand in the summit clash on March 9 in Dubai.

While the Indian wicketkeeper-batter was seen cherishing the moments and captured raw emotions on the players of the Indian team from the dressing room to the field after Champions Trophy victory, what caught the attention was Rohit Sharma’s hilarious take on retirement. As soon as Pant approached Rohit with the camera, he said, "What? Should I take retirement? I can't retire after every victory.”

Apart from this, the clip had footage of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill share a tight hug with Pant in the dressing room after the winning runs were hit. Later on, as they walked out, Rohit was seen embracing Gautam Gambhir, while raw emotions poured in on the faces of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav and others.
Further speaking of Rohit Sharma, the star India cricketer is only active in ODI format after retiring from T20Is and Tests in June 2025 and May 2025 respectively. While he was scheduled to return to action in the Bangladesh white-ball series, but with the tour being pushed back to September 2026, he is set to mark his return in the Australia ODIs, scheduled to be played in October.
