The fourth test between India vs England has kicked off in amazing fashion at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. England are leading the five-match test series having an upperhand of 2-1 ahead of the fourth test. England won the toss and chose to bowl first. The match started with Jaiswal and Kl Rahul adding valuable runs to the scoreboard and holding their nerves against the English pacers. They were maintaining a partnership crucial for India. Both the batsmen were looking in good shape. However, England fought back in the second session and clinched the important wickets of both the openers as Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) and KL Rahul (46) had to make their way back to the pavilion.
Then came in Sai Sudarshan and the Indian Captain Shubman Gill to take charge of the innings and try to form a formidable partnership but the young captain Shubman Gill had a day to forget as he was dismissed by Ben Stokes in a bizarre manner. Before that, Gill was also booed by the English crowd at Old Trafford while he was coming to bat. Shubman Gill had a lapse of judgement in that ball and left it, however the ball hit into the pads of Shubman Gill, the entire England team erupted in appeal and the umpire raised his finger.
England team over the moon after dismissal of the Indian Captain
This decision was reviewed by India, In the ball tracker it was clearly seen that the ball was in line to hit the stumps and the umpires decision was right. This led to Shubman Gill’s disappointment as he failed to go deep into the innings for the second time in a row after the Lord’s Test. Ben Stokes was over the moon as he clinched the wicket of the young Indian Captain for the first time in his career.
After that, India suffered major blow as Rishabh Pant had to leave the field after suffering a foot injury, followed by Sai Sudharsan's dismissal after scoring 61 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (19*) and Shardul Thakur (19*) took the innings further as India finished day one of Manchester Test at the score of 264 runs for the loss four wickets.
