In what has clearly been a proud moment for the Indian national cricket team, the honours board at the famous English ground at Manchester, Old Trafford, that is replete with the names of great players, now also boasts three particular players from Team India. The names include- captain Shubman Gill, the two valiant centurions- Ravindra Jadeja (who just finished his Test match number 84) and rising all rounder Washington Sundar. A noted curator present at the occasion of unveiling the three new names on the honours board at the Manchester cricket stadium went on to narrate his induction: "We have been joined by three wonderful.. wonderful players from the Indian Test series- Gill, Jadeja and Washington Sundar!"
As a matter of fact, the distinct honour given to the three Indian players was extended in recognition of each of the three members of the Indian team at having hit centuries in the just-concluded Manchester Test. While Shubman Gill, leading from the front hit a dogged century- a 103 (despite being in clear physical pain having been hit on the thumb), Jadeja and Sundar, respectively, contributed with knocks of 107 and 101.
The match saving stand shared between premium all rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, among the finest Indian all rounders, helped India to latch on to a much-needed draw at a time where England were far too threatening in the contest and did put the visiting side under a lot of pressure.
However, in a game of a constant tug of war between the bat and ball, it was all down to India's guts and glory that helped the team inch closer to safer seas in the end.
"We are delighted that we were able to see such fine performances from the Indian players," is how the honours board curator would continue his lavish praise extended to the three centurions from India's end.
The series shall now see one final Test match to be played at the Kia Oval.
