After the scintillating 3-2 victory against England Women’s in the five-match WT20I series, India Women have got a fine start in the first WODI getting played at The Ageas Bowl. At the toss, the English skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt emerged victorious against her counterpart Harmanpreet Kaur and elected to bat first. Playing her third international game, pacer Kranti Goud exuded confidence as she struck the hosts by dismissing openers Amy Jones and Tamsin Beaumont in the initial two overs. After losing a couple of wickets, the home team recovered with the 71-run partnership from Emma Lamb and captain Sciver-Brunt.

Sneh Rana stepped up in the 19th over and got rid of Lamb, who was looking decent with her bat. Lamb departed after scoring 39 off 50. The spinner, in her next over, dismissed settled Nat, who fell after accumulating 41 off 52. Noting Rana’s magnificent bowling, netizen have showered praise on her. An X user named Lavanya wrote, “Always nice to see Sneh Rana tightening things. Remarkable control. She has a wicket as a reward! Emma Lamb has to go. In comes Dunkley to help Nat Sciver-Brunt. #ENGvIND.”

India Women need 259 runs to win the 1st ODI

Despite early breakthrough's England were able to cross the 250-run mark as they ended up posting  258 runs for the loss six wickets in their 50 overs. Both Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards have emerged as a headache for the visitors. The duo put up a partnership of 106 runs for the fifth wicket. 

Richards scored 53(73) runs with two fours while Dunkley got out after scoring 83 runs off 92 balls hitting nine boundaries. For India, Sneh Rana regsitered figures of 2/31, while Kranti Goud also put two in her bag. Apart from that, Amanjot Kaur and Nallapureddy Charani scalped a wicket each.
